A 39-year-old man has been charged following an armed robbery at the Post Office in Martock.

Dion Levy, of Queens Crescent, Stoke-sub-Hamdon, has been charged with one count of robbery and will appear in court today (January 12).

It follows an armed robbery at Martock Post Office in East Street on Thursday, January 4, where staff were threatened before the offender made off with a quantity of money.

No-one was hurt in the incident.

Det Insp Lee Jones said: “We’d like to thank the public for their help and patience during this investigation.

“It is still an ongoing operation and people will still see an active presence in the area as we continue our enquiries in relation to this offence.

“We are also still keen for anyone who might have information about the incident to call us on 101, quoting reference 5218002794.

“Alternatively, ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. They never ask your name or trace your call. You could even qualify for a reward and still remain anonymous.”

Levy is due to appear at South Somerset Magistrates Court Yeovil today (Friday, January 12).
