A FORMER teacher at a secondary school in Taunton has been summoned to appear before a professional conduct panel.

The misconduct proceedings against Ryan Leverton, 35, who used to teach at Bishop Fox's School, in Taunton, are due to take place in Coventry from Monday to Wednesday next week.

The National College for Teaching and Leadership said the hearing will be held in accordance with the Teachers' Disciplinary (England) Regulations 2012.

Mr Leverton denied three counts of sexual touching involving a 16-year-old girl when he appeared at Taunton Crown Court in 2014.

But ahead of his trial scheduled for March the following year, the Crown Prosecution Service formally dropped the charges, saying there was insufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction.

Mr Leverton had left Bishop Fox's School ahead of his court appearances and had moved to Exeter.
