STEAK was pulled from the menus of Wetherspoon pubs across Somerset – frustrating Steak Club fans yesterday.
The pub giant, which runs the Perkin Warbeck and Coal Orchard in Taunton, recalled the meat over a labelling issue.
A total of 900 pubs across the country were affected on the day which offers steak and drink-combo deals.
A spokesman for Wetherspoon’s supplier, Russell Hume, said: “The product recall was a precautionary measure because of mislabelling. We have no reason to believe that the product was unsafe to eat”.
Sirloin steak, rump steak and gammon steak have all been recalled.
Eddie Gershon, a spokesman for Wetherspoons, said: “It affected all Wetherspoon pubs. The aim is to have the three products back in the pubs within seven days, maybe earlier.”
