TEN high achievers from Richard Huish College have gained offers to study at an Oxbridge university.

This year sees an even split of five students heading to each of the universities.

Receiving offers from Oxford University are Matt Kingdom, who has an offer to read classical archaeology and ancient history at Somerville College, Charlotte Smith has been awarded a place to read medicine at Magdalen College and Sophia Cerullo, a place to read English language and literature at Keble College. Lottie Radford has been offered a place at Queens College to read history and English.

Justin Vyvyan-Jones, has been offered a place to read classics and German at St Hugh’s College, while Jeremy Pearson has a place to read philosophy at Jesus College, Cambridge.

Wwith offers to Cambridge are Valeria Samsonova, who has an offer to read natural sciences at Newnham College and Ellie Fox will read geography at Fitzwilliam College.

Sophie Warner-Housego has an offer to read modern and medieval languages at Newnham College, and Charlotte Newman has received an unconditional offer to read human and political sciences at Gonville & Caius College.

Principal John Abbott said he was proud of the students.

He added: “We are extremely proud of what these students have achieved in a climate of increasing competition and with the added pressure of entrance exams and an intensive interview process. They have progressed from a diverse range of secondary schools and their success is down to their hard work and the commitment from specialist support tutors who ensure all students achieve beyond what they might expect.”
