RAILINGS severely damaged in an early hours crash outside a Wetherspoons in Taunton will be replaced in the next 28 days.
The railings outside the Perkin Warbeck pub near the traffic lights along Fore Street have been obliterated after a car smashed into them.
Vicky Hughes, shift manager at Wetherspoons, said: "The crash happened around 4am on Sunday, January 21. The CCTV footage indicates a car was travelling from the centre of town toward East Reach when the driver lost control and crashed into the railings.
"It was just lucky the car did not go through and into the pub."
Somerset County Council has been liaising with the police following the incident.
"Repairs have been ordered to take place within the next 28 days," A council spokesman said.
"We are also seeking to recover the losses involved.”
