CHILDREN in West Somerset are getting the chance to learn how to cycle safely this summer.
A two-day course at West Somerset sports and leisure centre in Minehead will also teach them how to keep their bikes roadworthy.
Leisure centre manager Jayne Lethaby said: "Cycling is great exercise for children but we also need to teach them how to stay safe and understand traffic."
She said the course, being run in partnership with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, includes tutored cycle rides and will be run by ROSPA qualified teaching staff.
Children completing the course will receive a ROSPA Cycle Safety Certificate.
Youngsters must be nine or more to go on the course, which will take place on August 14 and 15 and cost £26.
Jayne added: "Children should bring a packed lunch, bicycle, safety helmet and sun screen on both days.
"Places are strictly limited so we'd urge people to book as soon as possible."
Call 01645 708815 or call into the centre to book a place.
