A SERIES of whist drives at Rockwell Green Village Hall has raised £1,000 for cancer charity Somerset Unity for Radiotherapy Equipment.
Other donations to the County Gazette-backed SURE, which equips the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital, included £70 from Robin Smith from a raffle he organised in Puriton.
There was also £24, mainly in 5p coins from Medipak Ltd, of Bridgwater, and £31.13 from the collection pot at the British Car Auction, Bridgwater.
Members of the Golden Leisure Club, Western Power Distribution gave £30, while left at the Beacon Centre was £62.25 in 5ps from Minehead Male Voice Choir and In Ecclesia of Taunton.
The total of £149.44 from the Beacon Centre included £123.20 in 5ps.
The weekly total of £1,366.82 means £754,413.30 has been raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette.
