MARTYN Venner, newly appointed residential manager at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s Taunton office, is celebrating a successful start to his tenure.

He has sold a commanding residential holding occupying an enviable position on the Northern slopes of the Quantock Hills. It had been on the market at a guide price of £1.7M (as a whole) and he concluded matters by inviting best offers due to the competition for the property. The sale was agreed well in excess of the guide price.

Somerset County Gazette:

Budley Farm at Nether Stowey is impressive inside and out. It enjoys a great deal of privacy and far reaching views over open countryside. The property comprises an impressive farmhouse, range of modern adaptable farm buildings together with 109 acres of prime agricultural land.

The house, built in 1992 to a superior standard, is subject to an agricultural occupancy condition and had come to the open market for the first time since its construction.

Martyn, having an agricultural background, is keen to expand the scope of the Taunton office to include more rural agency work.

“Having a rural background and having a presence at one of the largest livestock markets in the country at Sedgemoor Auction Centre I’m keen to expand and promote rural agency from the county town.

“Demand for farmland is still incredibly strong in the district making it a very saleable commodity.

He originally wanted to pursue a career in farming, but was persuaded by his late father Colin Venner, to study Rural Land Management at The Royal Agricultural University.

Martyn gained a degree in 2003 and then worked on estates in Norfolk and Lincolnshire, returning to Taunton at the end of 2003.

A shortage in the milk quota department at Greenslade Taylor Hunt resulted in the offer of temporary employment for a few months. This became a permanent move and has led to a flourishing career with the property partnership.

He has worked in all aspects of the property industry including estate agency, professional work, auctioneering and rural agency. He qualified as a chartered surveyor in 2007 and also carried out auctioneering duties at Taunton Market and subsequently Sedgemoor Auction Centre.

He enjoys the variety of his workload. He became residential manager at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s Bridgwater residential office in 2012 and a Partner in 2017 following in the footsteps of his late father Colin.

Mr Venner senior worked for GTH and its forerunners for 42 years and was well respected in the local community and was renowned for selling sheep.
