STUDENTS at Taunton International Middle School ditched their uniforms for a mufti day and raised £80 for the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment charity.

Other donations to the County Gazette-backed SURE, which equips the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital, included £540.42 from David Sweet, of Taunton, in memory of his wife, Christine.

Collections of 5p coins were £1.85 from Jill Sharpe; £2 from Gillian Robson; £2 from Mr G. Larcombe; £2.85 from Pauline Burt Collection pots totalled £17.14 at the Beacon Centre cafe; £20.05 from Trull Stores; £43.30 from Tesco, North Petherton; £16.50 from Creech St Michael WI; £18.25 from friends in Bradford-on-Tone; and £11.30 from L.S.J.T.

There was £75.10 from Sue Lloyd, of Combe St Nicholas; £10.79 from L.W. Matcham; and from the Beacon Centre £89.09.

The weekly total of £930.64 means £755,343.94 has been raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette.
