A WOMAN born above a town centre shop was given a kind gift by a coffee chain in Taunton

Starbucks donated a drawing of its building at 8-9 Fore Stree to June Lithgow, who was born there in 1925.

The shop was then Fisher's Ironmongers shop, which had a large copper kettle hanging outside as a sign.

June Lithgow, nee Fisher, now 92, and living at Pulsford Lodge Residential Home in Wiveliscombe was delighted with the picture which immediately brought back memories of her early life growing up in Taunton.

Mark Lithgow, Wellington, June's son, said: “I am so grateful to the generous staff at Starbucks who have brought such a wealth for memories to my mother.

"She was so surprised and overjoyed to see it just as she remembered from her youth.”

According to Mr Lithgow, the family business was a successful part of the town’s business community for two generations. Among their work, they organised the plumbing for the Norton Manor camp when it was built in 1940.

June's father worked in the business and met her mother, who worked in Hatchers, at the back of the shop where the two premises adjoined.

Later living in Aylands Road, June could remember cycling into town and leaving her bicycle in the corridor at the side of the shop while she did her shopping.

She also remembered watching the carnival from the large upstairs window with family members and other workers.
