MOST major roads in Somerset are now 'passable with care'.

The huge snowfall from Storm Emma is thawing out as temperatures rise and the sun comes out.

The Highways Authority is advising that there is still some snow and ice about, so is urging motorists to take care - especially on minor routes.

The A358 between Taunton and Williton is still reportedly partially blocked at Flaxpool so do proceed with caution there.

Exmoor National Park has said road conditions in the area are likely to remain treacherous throughout today, with many main routes still blocked by snowdrifts.

The Buses of Somerset has confirmed that a full service will operate with just a few exceptions. Service 21 will not stop in Pawlett, Service 22 will not serve Tonedale and the 28 Service will not stop at Taunton Railway Station or Watchet.

All services will depart from outside Taunton Bus Station, Stand F.

First Bus has also released a statement saying normal service has resumed.

Cross Country Trains has said normal service has resumed, 'but there will some alterations in the South West due a shortage of trains following damage by snow and ice'.

They are advising to check your route before leaving by using nationalrail.co.uk.

Until 11am there is still a yellow warning for snow and ice in place.
