AT the ripe old age of 58 I feel compelled to write a letter for the first time to a local newspaper, to tell everyone of my amazing encounter I had with approximately seven young teenagers on Saturday afternoon while on my way into town.

Unbeknown to me, I dropped £50 from my pocket, which I had only just taken out of the cashpoint at the train station.

They could easily have put it in their pockets and just kept walking, but no, they chased after me to return it.

I just feel that we seem to read all the time how bad, rude, inconsiderate and uncaring the youth of today is, well folks please don’t paint them all with those things as I can certainly vouch for some of them, I just wanted to thank them from the bottom of my heart for being so honest and caring.

Thank you to all of you, who re-confirmed my trust in our youth.
