COUNCIL workers were left red-faced after a cherry picker got stuck in a Taunton park.
The picker was sent to French Weir to work on a diseased chestnut tree that needs to be felled.
But after it got stuck in wet grass, workers decided to leave it overnight to allow the ground to dry out.
It was towed out this morning (Thursday) by a digger.
A Taunton Deane Borough Council spokeswoman said: "An assessment of the ground was made but it was far wetter than initially thought.
"As a result the machine was stuck in the wet grass.
"Rather than cause unnecessary damage to the grassy area it was left 24 hours to allow the ground to dry out and then pulled off the grass with a digger.
"All damage has been reinstated and once the growing season begins the grass will quickly return to normal."
She added that it is the second time this kind of vehicle has been stuck in the 13 years the council has been using them.
