NO, this isn't the busiest farm in the world, these tractors were gathered for a very worthy charity cause.

More than 80 vehicles gathered on Sunday (April 8) for the annual Charity Tractor Run, raising money for the Marion Evered Trust, which donates money to the Oak children's ward at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.

This year saw the convoy journey from West Bagborough to Crowcombe, via Steart Marshes, Kilve, through the Quantocks and past Wimbleball Reservoir.

It is organised by Terry Ayre, who said: "We travel in different areas each year and have covered most of west Somerset, from Steart to West Quantoxhead, up over the Quantocks, also Wimbleball on the Brendon Hills and last year, Spaxton.

"Our routes take us onto hill tops and valley bottoms on unclassified roads and tracks, avoiding main roads as much as possible.

"While on our runs, we also like to get off the roads, on to tracks that give the drivers a chance to see areas not normally accessible.

"This year 83 tractors participated and we travelled at a sedate pace from Combe Florey to Williton, following the railway line, with an off-road section at Capton, then back via Bicknoller to Crowcombe for a meal."

The Marion Evered Trust fund was set up by Arthur and Pauline Barrow in 1972 after they lost their daughter Tracy to leukaemia.

The fund has raised well in excess of £200,000 and this year, the road run raised £1,768 for the pot.
