A TAUNTON man has today (Tuesday) denied he murdered a young woman in a park in the town.

Martin Corns pleaded not guilty at Exeter Crown Court to murdering Heather Jordan in Lyngford Park earlier this year.

Corns, 52, of Denmark Terrace, will stand trial in the same court on Tuesday, August 28. The trial is expected to last five days.

He was remanded in custody at the end of this morning's hearing.

Corns is accused of murdering Heather Jordan, 34, who body was found in Lyngford Park on Sunday, February 18.

She is thought to have been on her way to work at the Co-op in nearby Priorswood Place from her home in Pickeridge Close when she died.

Friends laid tributes in the park and held a candlelit vigil a week after her death.

It started outside the shop where she worked before dozens of mourners walked to Lyngford Park.
