COUNCILLOR Gary James has been elected mayor for the second year running.

Cllr James was voted mayor by his peers at the annual parish and council meeting on Tuesday night (May 9).

Cllr James said he is delighted to be chosen to represent the town as mayor again.

He stood against cllr Janet Lloyd who will serve as deputy.

Cllr James said: "I am delighted to be elected again by my fellow councillors.

"I hope they think that I have done a good job and believe that I will continue to do so.

"I will endeavour to do my role and take into account everything that is going on in the town.

"We are a vibrant town with lots of dedicated volunteer groups.

"I'm happy to do my bit for the town, and I know my wife will be there with me."

Town clerk, Greg Dyke, took councillors through a report of the town's year, concluding that it was in a strong financial position to face any challenge that may arise over the next year and to deliver effective services.
