BRIDGWATER Arts Centre is hosting and a new art and poetry exhibition.

Jackie Curtis will exhibit her fantastic new printwork alongside the poetry from Westover Green pupils.

Her work for this show travels along Somerset’s pathways and time trodden lanes, exploring waterways and rhynes and following birds as they weave across the sky before congregating on the Levels.

The journey is illustrated through a variety of printmaking techniques from spontaneous innovative monoprints to intricate stylised linocuts and bold woodblocks that build on the natural grain and shape of the wood.

Poems from the writers of Westover Green School will also be on display in the corridors and will complement Jackie’s art.

The children have been working with Bridgwater poet, Annie Fisher to produce some incredible work.

Many of the children’s poems celebrate animals, the natural world and the local environment.

Go along on June 16, to meet Jackie from 10am - 3pm and join Annie from noon - 3pm to create your own inspired piece of poetry.

Ink Ways is at Bridgwater Arts Centre from 29 May - 30 June, free to view on Tuesday - Friday from 10am - 3pm. For more information call 01278 422700 or visit bridgwaterartscentre.co.uk
