A MAN was flown away by air ambulance in a 'serious condition' after a crash on Porlock Hill.

Avon and Somerset Police closed Porlock Hill following the incident at around 6pm on Friday (May 25).

A spokesman from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said:

“One fire appliance from Porlock, and two from Minehead were all called to reports of a road traffic collision in the above location.

“On arrival, crews confirmed one vehicle on its side with one persons trapped inside.

“Crew proceeded to stabilise the vehicle and used hydraulic cutting equipment to gain access to the casualty.

“Crews extricated the male, who was handed over to the ambulance service.”

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We were called on Friday at around 6pm to attend a road traffic incident on the A39 Porlock Hill in the area of Minehead. It was reported that a vehicle had overturned and a person was trapped.

"A male patient was flown by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital in a serious condition."
