A TAUNTON teen was excited to meet Peter Andre at a backstage meet and greet just before the star's performance at the Playhouse Theatre in Weston.

Ashley Carter, 17, from Taunton has Treacher Collins Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder, which alters the development of bones and other tissues in the face, as well as breathing problems.

Ashley said he was exited to meet the star and tell him about how Peter's mother in law saved Ashley's life when he was a baby.

Ashley said: “I was so excited when I found out he was going to be hosting an evening so close to my home, and it was an amazing show.

"I also wanted to tell him how his mother in law saved my life when I was a baby - I would not be here without her.”

Ashley bought the tickets for the show as a special mother's day gift for his mum which went down a treat!

Peter Andre is one of many celebrity ambassadors from the Jeans for Genes 2018 campaign lending his support to the charity to educate the British public about genetic disorders and raise funds for the charity.

Jeans for Genes Day, which will take place on Friday, September 21, raises money for children and families affected by life-altering genetic disorders.

Money raised on Jeans for Genes Day funds the work of Genetic Disorders UK and provides grants to organisations for projects, day-to-day support, equipment, respite and events which bring together affected children and their families. Every year the Jeans for Genes Day campaign encourages people to sign up for a free fundraising pack, pull on a pair of jeans and make a donation on the day.
