A TEAM of four farm vets dressed up as cows and raised more than £5,000 for charity.

Brudders 4 Udders Piers Pepperell, David Balch, Alastair Winearls and Oliver Judkins, from the Mount Veterinary Hospital, in Wellington, completed the Wellington Triathlon earlier this year.

And their efforts helped bring in £5,247.50 for Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE), which buys equipment for the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Musgrove Park Hospital, in Taunton.

Other donations handed over to the County Gazette-backed charity last week included £362.50 from Andrew Potter, who ran his first marathon in Exeter.

There was £154.10 from the Inner Wheel of Burnham-on-Sea; £261,02 from Fivehead Bridge Club from a social bridge during event in memory of member Roy Scott; and an anonymous donation of £30.

Collections of 5p coins included £19 from Wellington Aqua Social Club; £1.95 from Gill Sharpe; £9 from Pat Phillips; £22 from Christine Brooker; and £32.70 from St Michael's Ladies.

Pat Willoughby donated £5.75 in loose change; £10 came from Mrs J. R. Pring and £13.38 from Mrs S. Bale.

Collection pots realised £46.51 from Lizzie's Kitchen, in Burnham; £8.45 from Crusty Cob Bakery, in Burnham; £44.24 from Tesco Express, in Comeytrowe; £11.65 from Trull Stores; £6.30 from Bishops Lydeard Post Office; £21.62 from the Constitutional Club, Bishop's Hull; £21.50 from Wembdon Post Office and Stores; and £14.97 from Tesco Express.

There was £40 from Norman Tomkies, of Street and £117.64 from the Beacon Centre, along with £91.66 mostly in 5ps.

The weekly total of £6,593.74 means £781,531.98 has been raised since SURE teamed up with the Gazette.
