WITH regard to your article on bus fares for students being raised by another £100, I would like to voice my dismay at Somerset County Council for continuing to increase the price of an already expensive bus pass that is mandatory.
Every child must now stay in full time education (or alternative higher education) until they are 18.

They have to go to college which means, if they cannot travel by other means, they have to pay £795 for a bus pass they have no choice over.
It is a ridiculous sum that leaves families struggling.
If a family has to use a public transport service they should not be punished with such a hefty sum, the use of public transport should be encouraged - and should be available to all.
