This year's Penryn Week is in full swing, with activities kicking off today (Monday July 9) and continuing until the carnival and street party at the weekend.

Penryn Library hosted a rhymetime session for youngsters this morning to get things started. There will be a tea dance at the town's Temperance Hall at 2pm and a special Lego club at the library at 3.30pm-4pm.

Later on, College Field will host a sports evening for budding young athletes to compete in the egg and spoon race, sack race and three legged race.

Tomorrow (Tuesday July 10), under fives will get to enjoy a craft session at the library from 10.30am to 11.30am.

John Kirby will be leading a heritage walk starting off at Penryn Town Hall at 2pm. A craft session for the over fives will be held at Penryn Library from 3.30pm to 4.30pm, and the Deputy Lieutenant of Cornwall, Nicholas Trefusis, is giving a history talk at the Temperance Hall at 7.30pm.

On Wednesday (July 11), adults will be able to colour their cares away at Penryn Library from 10am. There will be a bingo night at the Temperance Hall at 6.30pm and a Euchre Drive at the rugby club at 7.30pm.

History buffs will be pleased to hear that Penryn Museum is holding an open evening at 7pm.

On Thursday (July 12), there will be a session at Penryn Library from 3.30pm to 4.30pm where people can paint rocks to decorate the town with. There will be choir singing at Penryn Methodist Church at 7.15pm.

The Penryn Camera Club will hold their annual exhibition at the Town Hall on Friday (July 13) and Saturday (July 14) from 10am to 8pm.

The Friday Market is selling local bread and meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, homemade cakes, biscuits, savouries, preserves, handmade jewellery, local crafts and more from 9am to 2pm.

Test your trivia at the quiz night on Friday (July 13) at the football club from 7.30pm.

On Saturday (July 14), the Penryn RFC Community Fun Day will kick off at 2pm before Penryn Carnival starts at the rugby club at 6pm with the parade setting off at 6.30pm where the fairy king and queen will take to their floats.

The Soul Sensations will play a Gig@Glasney on College Field at 7.30pm after the carnival.

On Sunday (July 15), a street party will take over the town from 3pm to 5pm before the mayor holds a civic service with the RNLI on Exchequer Quay at 6pm.

There will be bingo at 6.30pm at the Temperance Hall on Sunday.
