STAPLEGROVE Parish Council has applied to Somerset County Council for permission for a ‘SLOW’ marking on the A358 Staplegrove Road.
If permission is approved, the markings would be located on the eastbound just ahead of the blind left-hand bend before the village hall.
A speed recorder in the last couple of years showed the 30mph speed limit is “frequently exceeded during non-congested times”, according to a letter from the parish council to the county.
It adds: “Also, recent letters to, and incidents reported in, the County Gazette refer to the dangers of excessive speed through Norton Fitzwarren and on Staplegrove Road.”
The parish could would fund the work if it gets the go-ahead from County Hall.
