FIREFIGHTERS were called to Blackbrook to rescue a woman stuck in a car after a crash. 

Fire crews from Taunton and Wellington were sent to the incident on the M5 in North Chelston at 4.40pm today (July 12) after reports of a crash. 

When firefighters arrived on the scene they confirmed there had been a crash involving two vehicles and a woman was still inside a vehicle. 

Police, air ambulance and ambulance service were also called to the scene. 

Crews used rescue equipment and small tools to release the woman from the car.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called on Thursday soon after 4.30pm to attend a road traffic incident on the M5 northbound near Junction 26.

"We sent the following resources to the incident: an ambulance, an air ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, and two ambulance commanders. A female patient was transported by road ambulance to Musgrove Park Hospital for treatment.

"Two patients were treated at the scene by our paramedics."
