THE search is on for someone to lead a group that helps shape the future of Taunton.

Taunton Strategic Advisory Board is looking for a chairman to help support the delivery of the town's ambitions to develop as a growing, sustainable, healthy and prosperous garden town.

The vacancy comes following the resignation of John Clothier.

Cllr John Williams, leader of Taunton Deane Borough Council, council, said: "Taunton owes a huge debt of gratitude to John Clothier, who has given his time tirelessly over the past 13 years.

"His wisdom and advice has been invaluable – he will be a hard act to follow."

The advisory board includes representatives from the public, private and voluntary sectors and acts as a sounding board and adviser to the council.

Members focus on strategic issues essential to Taunton’s future growth and prosperity including:

•housing, employment and economic growth;

•infrastructure and regeneration;

•the environment, social, health and cultural issues;

•skills, education and lifelong learning;

•innovative solutions through design and new digital technology.
