A MAN and a woman accused of dealing drugs in Chard will stand trial after denying the charge.

Sam David Osborne and Natasha Woollacott are alleged to have been supplying cannabis to people in the town and Osborne was found in possession of the drug after being searched.

More evidence was allegedly discovered by police implicating the female’s involvement and they were arrested and charged.

Osborne, 27, of Lyme Road, Axminster and Woollacott, 22, of Penny’s Meade, Ilton, were jointly charged that on November 10 last year at Chard they were in possession of a quantity of cannabis (class B) with intent to supply to another.

Prosecutor Christine Hart said that the police saw a male leaving an address in Chard, and when they searched him found he had cannabis on his person.

A search of the address revealed a stash of money and evidence was also found on mobile phones of alleged drug dealing.

She added that further evidence also suggested that Woollacott was complicit in what was taking place at the property.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the offence and Woollacott elected to stand trial at the crown court.

As a result both defendants were ordered to appear before a pre-trial hearing at Taunton Crown Court on August 20.

Until then they were released on unconditional bail.
