IT'S a blue victory for a new Conservative councillor taking a seat in Wellington.
A by-election for the town council's Wellington East ward was held yesterday (July 26) at St John's Primary School.
Wayne Battishill won the vote after Lib Dem councillor Peter Critchard resigned his seat in June.

Mr Battishill won the election with 236 votes, following by Nancy Powell-Brace (LibDem) with 189 votes, Nicholas Smith (Ind) with 62 votes and Desmond Pollard (Lab) with 53 votes.
Turnout was 20.22 per cent.
