A KITCHENWARE store in Taunton has undergone a major makeover - and County Gazette readers are being given the chance to pick up a special treat for free to mark the occasion.

Lakeland, at 15 East Street, has been closed for the past ten days as shopfitters worked to complete the refit ahead of the premises re-opening tomorrow (Thursday).

Speaking ahead of Saturday's official relaunch, manager Sally Petrich is promising a more customer-friendly experience.

She said: "We've been in Taunton for 11 years, so it was 'our turn' to have some work done.

"Lakeland has made a huge investment in the store with a major refit and total redecoration.

"The shopfitting team has been working day and night to get us where we are and we're delighted with the result.

"In the past, customers told us many items on the shelves were too high. Now it's all on a much lower level so all out customers can see and access everything.

"The store is now much brighter and airy, giving the illusion of more space, which is something customers commented on before."

She added: "We're really excited and are looking forward to welcoming back all our existing customers and new ones."

Lakeland's latest catalogue was recently published and the store will stock 250 new lines.

Customers on the outlet's mailing list are being sent a voucher for a free packet of Thomas and Grace Prosecco truffles, which normally retail at £4.99.
