AN action-packed fun day will mark the end of the summer holidays in Taunton's Hamilton Park.

Taunton Deane Borough Council is working with its partners to organise the event with activities designed for all the family to enjoy.

The authority's community development team has devised the Charity Activity Day in aid of the New Link Centre, which will be the hub for the Taunton East Development Trust.

The fun on Saturday, September 1, aims to support health and well-being, focusing on what we can all do to improve our health such as physical exercise and feeling part of the community.

The programme of activities will run from 11am to 3pm with more than 55 exhibits and fun things to do ranging from climbing walls, an athletics track, and dance workshops to an assault course and tug o’war.

There will be birds of prey and trained chicken demonstrations alongside demonstrations from the fire service.

The RSPCA, Forestry Commission, ASDA, Tesco and Pets at Home will also be taking part. There will be advice and taster sessions on healthy eating as well.

The event is free but there will be a small charge for some activities, with proceeds going the TEDT.

Cllr Jane Warmington, executive councillor for community leadership, said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for people to come together for the benefit of their community.

"We are fortunate to have such pro-active people and I am delighted that so many are joining in to make this event a success in aid of the new Link Centre and TEDT."
