A MAN suffered a serious head injury during an alleged attack in Minehead.

Police were called to reports of an assault at a property in Alcombe Road in Minehead last Thursday (August 16) at about 7pm.

The victim – a man in his 20s – received a serious head injury, which required hospital treatment.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police: "We believe the man was assaulted by a group of men."

Two people – a man and a woman – have been arrested in connection with the incident. The man remains in police custody and the woman has been released under investigation.

The spokesman added: "We are also interested in reports of a silver car, which is believed to have stopped in the street at the time of the incident to let two men out.

"This vehicle is not thought to have been involved in the assault incident but we are keen to speak to the occupants – a woman and two men – who we believe may have information to help our enquiries into the assault incident."
