COURT Fields Community School in Wellington has been hailed as "a good school with outstanding features" following a recent Ofsted inspection.

The report has just been published from the inspection, which took place on November 21.

Peter Sanderson, the Ofsted inspector gave the school good grades in areas including the standards reached by learners, the extent to which learners adopt safe practices and the behaviour of learners.

It attained outstanding marks for areas including the overall personal development and well-being of the learners, how well learners enjoy their education and the extent to which learners make a positive contribution to the community.

Mr Sanderson reported: "This is a good school with outstanding features. It is very inclusive, and effectively strives to achieve its mission statement of Believe, Learn, Inspire, Succeed - Together.' "As one parent said, 'The school provides a great many opportunities for children to grow and develop.'"

He also praised the head teacher and senior leadership team of the school, adding: "The school's inclusive ethos and the opportunities and achievements enjoyed by students are in large measure due to the energetic and forward thinking leadership of the head teacher."

He suggested that the school increase the proportion of good and outstanding lessons and raise standards in science by the end of year 11 to improve further.
