Parish council: An official report recommends a target of 18,000 dwellings in the Taunton area over the next 20 years. For the first time, fields to the west of Comeytrowe Road are specifically mentioned, with a proposed capacity of 3,000 dwellings. The need for improved road access is acknowleged. These recommendations will now be considered by the Government.

A display showing affordable housing schemes in various parts of the county was mounted in the memorial hall by the Falcon Housing Association. Andy Lahner, who has built many of the small Falcon schemes, demonstrated how such provision might be made in Trull. There was a good attendance, including a number of young couples interested in such housing locally. Falcon is reviewing the response before deciding whether to proceed with a scheme, subject to planning approval.

The parish council has appointed Don Archer as lead councillor for housing and development. He will deal with key issues such as affordable housing and flood prevention. Ann Hudson takes over his previous role as lead councillor for planning, with assistance from Colin Ralph.

Playing field users are being asked for suggestions to ensure that the field is used to its fullest potential. Among those being consulted are the Dragons Football Club, Trull Primary School and pre-school group and the church's youth and children's minister. One aim is to access funds not available to the council. Repairs to the slide and see-saw are under way; replacement swings have been purchased and should be in place soon.

The county council's rights of way team has provisionally agreed to part fund the gravel used for the footpath at the bottom of the playing field, and an extension of the low walling at Pokes Lane, subject to quotations.

Attempts are being made to resolve the problem of tall hedges shading light to the allotments in Wild Oak Lane. Ladylawn residents have been asked to consider having their trees pruned and hedges laid but several were not in favour of this. The possibility of laying a trial section of hedge to show the advantages to both residents and allotment tenants is being explored.
