MIKE Amos has been welcomed as the new head teacher at Thurlbear Primary School at a service at St Mary's Church, Stoke St Mary.
And his predecessor, Brian Crudge, assisted at the service, which was led by the Rev Paul Reynolds, who is a school governor.
Mr Amos promised to ensure that all children at Thurlbear would be valued and recognised and that the school would remain rooted in Christian values, principles and belief.
After he was welcomed, the pupils pledged to do their best to help him and staff at the school.
Afterwards, Mr Amos, previously head teacher at Burrowbridge Primary School, said he enjoyed the service and felt supported by the church and people at the service.
He was accompanied by his wife, Jill, and their children, Hope and Matthew.
