A PRIMARY school is celebrating double success following two successful inspections.

Staplegrove Primary School was judged good with outstanding features by OFSTED and outstanding' by the Diocese of Bath and Wells.

The OFSTED inspector said children at Staplegrove were making good progress against local and national benchmarks and that teaching and learning in the school were good.

He graded the way children were cared for and supported, the behaviour of the children, the responsibility they took in all aspects of the school and the vision and direction of the school set by the leaders as outstanding.

Head teacher Kirsti Nelson said: "This is a tremendous achievement for the school and one we are all very proud of.

"Staplegrove is a fantastic school and has all the potential to be outstanding at our next inspection. A big thank you goes to everybody involved at the school for all of their hard work."

The Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools report praised effectiveness of the school, the way the it met the needs of all learners, the collective worship and the leadership and management as outstanding'.

The areas the school have been asked to improve by OFSTED are: n Pupils' confidence and capability in calculation to further raise standards in mathematics; Encourage pupils to apply their ICT skills independently and to use ICT to support their learning across all subjects.
