Children help African farms

CHILDREN at a Bromley primary school had a double-whammy celebration combining a harvest festival with fundraising for African farmers.

Pupils at Raglan school, Raglan Road, dressed as farmers for a day and brought in gifts of food for Bromley Voluntary Services.

As the event fell during National Black History month, pupils were also asked to bring in silver coins which were arranged in the shape of a Baobab tree.

This raised £250 for charity Harvest Help, which improves seed stocks in Africa and plants trees to preserve farmland.

Teacher Ann Pritchard said: “The children enjoyed themselves and hopefully the gifts helped a lot of people.”
