THE September sunshine has given children at North Curry Primary School the chance to enjoy their new sensory garden.

The NCPT, the school’s ‘playground partnership’, took part in a project as part of the Woolworths Playground Partnership Scheme.

They redesigned an area of the school as an on going project to win some money and the year five and six children won £1,000 towards the cost of their final design.

The partnership used the money, together with more raised through fundraising and help from Green Shutters Nursery, Fivehead, to create a sensory garden for the whole school to use.

The garden was opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Taunton Deane, Tim and Gill Slattery.

Meanwhile, pupils in the key stage one and foundation stage, have joined forces with an artist to create a mural at the school.

Children drew pictures of what North Curry Primary School meant to them and the images were then adapted by local artist Colin Bell.

Colin spent a day with each class and each child created a clay tile that formed part of the mural.

A school spokesman said: “All the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working in clay and we are all very proud of their mural which has been put in pride of place at the school entrance.”
