HUNDREDS of people filled Taunton's St Mary Magdalene Church this morning to pay their final respects to Cpl Tom Gaden.

Outside the church, thousands of people lined the streets of Taunton town centre to watch the funeral cavalcade, which is now heading on to Taunton crematorium for a private cremation.

Earlier this morning hundreds of motorbikes gathered in Hamilton Road and rode up East Reach to East Street as a tribute to 24-year-old member of the 1st Battalion Rifles Regiment.

Cpl Tom Gaden was a keen biker and enthusiasts and friends from across the country joined the procession as a mark of respect.

The service saw hundreds of people fill the town centre church to pay their final respects to the popular Taunton soldier and father.

The service was led by Rvd Roger Burt. Regimental tributes were also made by fellow Rifles members and Taunton Mayor Tim Slattery read Footprints.

At the end of the service The Last Post and Reveille was sounded by military buglers and three volleys of shots were fired before the cortege set off for the cemetary.

Cpl Gaden, a former student at Bishop Fox's Community School, Taunton, and two colleagues from 1st Battalion The Rifles were killed by an explosive device while on patrol in Helmand Province.

Photos and a video news report of the procession will be uploaded here soon.
