REGULARS at the Bell Inn, Bishops Lydeard, had a close shave with some fundraising at the weekend.

They helped Emma Virgin, 38, of Bishops Lydeard, raise over £500 for St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice by having her head shaved.

She was followed in the barber’s chair by Bell landlord Trevor Davis, who also laid on food for the evening.

Emma said: “My step son lost his mum to cancer and nurses from the hospice and Macmillan looked after her.

“In these days of recession, charities also need all the help they can get.

“It’s a bit cold with a shaven head – but it’s well worth it.

“I’d like to thank Trevor for his support and the company who provided the disco and karaoke for free on the night.”
