Reason to celebrate at Selworthy School

YOUNGSTERS at Selworthy School in Taunton have something to smile about this week after being reunited with their greenhouse.

The school, which teaches children with severe learning difficulties, fell victim to vandals who damaged their greenhouse and set it on fire.

Employees at Monkton Elm Garden and Pet Centre near Taunton gave up their time for free to repair the greenhouse.

Duncan Robertson, assistant head teacher, said: “We are delighted Monkton Elm Garden and Pet Centre and suppliers Gardman, who contributed £300 worth of products, were able to help repair the greenhouse – it is greatly appreciated.

“We use the greenhouse to do gardening workshops with our pupils so we are thrilled it has been restored.”

As reported last week, pupils were dealt another blow as heartless thieves stole a 12-foot trampoline – worth around £300.

But after their story appeared in the County Gazette, the school was offered several trampolines from charitable readers.

Keep checking the County Gazette to see the students with their new trampoline.
