YOUNGSTERS from St Michaels First School have shown what a bit of imagination can achieve – by transforming old crisp packets into a holy cross.
The school’s eco group chose to make the recycled religious symbol to represent the school’s Church of England status and their green beliefs.
One of the kids’ dads made a base for the cross out of recycled wood, while the eco team cleaned hundreds of crisp packets ready to stick on.
Children from each class took part in weaving crisp packets on to the cross or making triangles or beads to decorate it.
Rev Simon Lloyd then blessed the cross at a special school assembly on Thursday.
The cast-off cross will now become a focal point on the school stage for future assemblies.
