COTFORD St Luke Primary School has been awarded £10,000 by the Big Lottery Fund to hold an Arts festival – and all are invited to participate.

During the weeks of October 5 and October 12, eight professional artists will be visiting the school to contribute to the festival.

The focus of the event is to celebrate the community of Cotford St Luke through the arts and to provide opportunities for people to develop or discover artistic talents.

It is also to provide the pupils with opportunities to experience new arts and activities.

Free after school workshops held by the artists have also been arranged, so that members of the community can take part and learn new skills.

Claire Halstead, the arts co-ordinator at the school, said: “We are extremely excited about the prospect of working with such exceptional local artists.

“We hope that many people come along and get involved.”

Artists and activities include mosaic work with David Bowers, woodcarving and sculpture with Gordon Field, and stained glass with Avril Silk.

An exhibition of work will be held on Friday October 23 and an unveiling of the stained glass windows and mosaics will take place on November 9.
