Children in Need gym fundraiser

IT’S that time again when hundreds of local people do the whackiest things for charity.

Fundraisers are gearing up for BBC Children in Need on Friday next week, November 20 – and a Taunton gym is going even further.

Hermes Health and Fitness Studio, in Bridge Street, is staging five days of stamina sapping challenges in a bid to raise at least £1,000.

The fun includes cycling, rowing, climbing and running on the gym equipment, fancy dress spinning and circuit training and sports massages.

It is open to members and non-members – so long as you pledge at least £1 to Children in Need.

And Hermes members are also enjoying a curry night at the Coal Orchard with a raffle.

Manager Suresh Ebert said: “We want to raise as much as possible for a worthy cause.

“Two years ago we had a sponsored static cycle covering the equivalent of the distance from England to Sri Lanka and raised £3,000 to help people affected by the tsunami.”

Lucy Gowans, Asda charities partnership manager, said: “It gives us great hope that our customers in the South-West will join in the fundraising fun again at our stores this year.”
