A heavenly pint from the Martlet Inn

A PINT from the Martlet Inn, Langford Budville, should taste heavenly after an unusual ceremony this week.

On Monday night, more than 100 people turned out for a party to celebrate the pub’s official reopening after a refurbishment – and to watch the bar being blessed by Father Russen Thomas from St Peter’s parish church in the village.

Landlord and landlady Bruno Fellman and Terena Burgess bought the pub in July last year.

Terena said: “The party was a way of showing off the pub and thanking those who have supported us since our arrival.

“One of our regulars, Roger Poole, came up with the idea of blessing the pub and suggested it to Father Thomas who thought it was a wonderful idea.

“I’ve never heard of it happening before. Father Thomas blessed every part of the pub including the kitchens.

“It was a proper ceremony with readings and incense.”

The building work was carried out by local craftsmen Culverhay Builders.
