A WOMAN who died after being in collision with a car on the A358 near Williton on Sunday has been named as 20-year-old Gemma Bate.
Police say Gemma, named as the victim on social networking site Facebook, was on foot when the incident happened at Sampford Brett at about 8.30pm.
She was taken to the Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton but died shortly afterwards.
The car involved was a Peugeot 306 and was travelling from Taunton towards Williton.
Police have not yet confirmed the victim's identity but are appealing for witnesses to the collision.
A police spokesperson said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who was either travelling along the A358 or in the area last night at the time of the incident who may have witnessed the incident or have information to help their enquiries.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police's collision investigation unit on 0845-4567000.”
