THE heartbroken parents of a Cotford St Luke father-of-two who was killed in a road accident have paid a heartfelt tribute to their “loving” son.

Steve Bridgwater, 30, of Graham Way, was riding his motorbike when it collided with an ambulance service rapid response vehicle on a 999 call on the B3227 at Norton Fitzwarren at 5.30pm last Thursday.

He died later at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital.

His devastated parents, Dave and Mo, have told how their son loved his family.

Mrs Bridgwater said: “The night before he told us he lived for his sons, Owen, seven, and Alfie, five.

“He was so loving and his friends have said he said if you could pick your family he wouldn’t pick anyone else.

“He was bubbly and really happy.”

Divorced Steve, who also leaves a sister, Gemma, and brother-in-law, Marc, was born in The Wirral and moved to this area in 1990.

He attended Heathfield Community School, near Taunton, and Brymore School, Canning-ton, and worked on a farm and as a stonemason before setting up on his own as a general builder.

His father said: “He was loving, caring and considerate, and had so many friends.”

Steve’s hobbies included cycling, motorbiking, keeping fit and going out with friends.

He enjoyed using Facebook and had plan-ned to visit some primary school friends in The Wirral last weekend.

His funeral is at 12 noon on Monday at St John the Baptist Church, Heathfield, followed by burial in the churchyard, with the arrangements being made by Taunton Funeral Service.

The family has requested flowers or donations for Blake (eye) Ward and A&E at Mus-grove Park Hospital.
