Power cut affects more than 1,000 homes in Wellington

A MAJOR power cut has affected more than 1,000 homes in the Wellington area this evening.

A Western Power Distribution spokesman said a total of 1,173 customers lost power when a cable was reportedly damaged shortly before 7pm.

The spokesman said the power supply was re-connected about an hour later, but there are reports parts of Wellington are still experiencing a patchy supply.

There are also unconfirmed reports parts of Taunton have been affected.

The power supply in the Wellington area appears to be a constant weak point. Particularly the area around Greenham Business Park, www.whiteball.co.uk. We regularly have power outages even after an upgrade or fault identified and fixed a couple of years ago by the power company. The outages are not as common as they were but still several times a year, more than enough to still cause disruption
