Falmouth visited Truro's Boscawen Park for the second time this season and came away with a similar result - rain winning the day!

In what is becoming an increasingly frustrating season the weather has now affected five of the ten Premier League match days to date.

The weather closed in to halt Truro's bid for victory after they had been set 158. They had reached 70 for 2 off 26 overs and needing a further 87 of 24 overs, still had a bit to do.

The Falmouth innings was built around a second wicket partnership of 59 between Steve Williams and Duncan Ayres. The pair came together after Sean Hooper, who opened in place of the absent skipper Larry Martin, was bowled by Charlie Shreck for eight with the score at 17.

Michael Munday bowled well from the river end to dismiss both Williams and Ayres. He bowled Ayres for 34 which included four fours off 103 balls then had Williams stumped by Dean Rowe for 39. The former county opener hit two fours off 95 balls. Later he had Richard Full trapped lbw to end with the excellent figures of 3-34 off 18 overs.

Tom Glover and Sean Turner both reached double figures, but wickets fell at regular intervals with Falmouth's cause not being helped by three run outs. Mark Burley continued his good form with 15 not out at the end as the visitors reached a modest 157-8 off the full 60 overs available.

Apart from Munday, Charlie Shreck was the only other wicket taker taking 2-38 off 18 overs with five maidens.

Following an interruption for rain Falmouth had an early success when Steve Cockett was caught by Dave Toseland at mid on off Sean Turner for 0. Then in the eighth over the visitors gained the important wicket of skipper Tom Sharp who was caught off the bowling of Paul Goodwin for six with the score at 18.

Truro made a steady start reaching 30 in the 14th over with Turner and Goodwin bowling well backed up by keen fielding. Toseland replaced Goodwin to bowl the 20th over with the score at 52-2.

Ben Price, making his season debut after studies, was in good form finding the boundary with regularity. He was 34 not out and Neil Stoddard 23 not out when the rain and drizzle finally caused play to be abandoned for the day.
