SOMERSET College of Arts & Technology, in Taunton, is axing the equivalent of 28 full-time jobs.
The redundancies follow a consultation period after the Learning and Skills Council announced alterations to the way it funds colleges.
SCAT principal and chief executive, Alison Scott, said: "Of the 45 redundancies we originally anticipated we might have had to make, there is now a final total of 28 full-time equivalent redundancies.
"We are relieved that we have not had to make as many redundancies as we'd initially anticipated, have managed to re-deploy staff and made savings in other areas."
