SRC/Bicycle Chain rider Dean Robson secured a victory and second place in the Rudy Project series last weekend.

In the Wyre Forest ‘13’, he finished a second behind the lead in a time of 30.55 and, the following day, took first place in the Exeter Wheelers 17km sporting event with 34.11.

The club’s top veteran, Andy Winterbottom, suffered a puncture in the Yeovil 10 while warming up so failed to start. Ben Turp, riding a borrowed bike, finished tenth in his first ride of the season in 22.40, while Tim Reeves (23.14), Keith Vale (23.52), Gerald Page (24.46) and Mark Kurpyta (25.14) also rode.

Sarah Dunn collected the ladies prize with a time of 24.21.

In a field of 90 riders, several SRC club colours faced the time-keeper at Buckfastleigh in the Plymouth Corinthian ‘10’. Winterbottom was a fine seventh overall and second vet with 21.13, while Dunn produced the ride of the day by smashing her PB and easily taking the ladies prize with an excellent 23.15.

Reeves (22.26) was 22nd and Turp, who also rode a PB finishing in 22.37.

Darren Avery, despite going slightly off-course, still had a fine ride with 23.40 and Kurpyta found things tough and finished with a mid 25 ride.

n NORTHOVER VT rider Jon Wynn took delivery of his new time trial bike and recorded a time of 20.49 in the Weston Wheelers 10 mile time-trial.

A few positional were corrected before the he rode the Bath CC 10 mile time trail at Cirencester, where he stormed to record a PB of 19.50 for an excellent fifth place.

Not to be outdone, Kelvin Price also managed to record a personal best as well with a super ride of 20.58, and Rick Johnston recorded his fastest of the year with a 21.26.

On Sunday, Wynn and Tom Cox rode the Abertillery and District 25-mile time trial on the Usk course. Wynn stormed around in a time of 52.47 which netted him a brilliant third place. Cox, recovering from a heavy cold and his ride the previous day in the Plymouth Corinthians 10 when he recorded a 22.24, still managed to finish in 58.34, which was a fine ride in the circumstances.
