TWO Hydro Harriers were in action at the weekend.

Tom Webber achieved an excellent position of 11th out of 75 starters in the Cheddar Chase – a 13k multi-terrain event on the Mendips – with a time of 1hr15min.

Meanwhile, Adam Clothier clocked 45.43 in his local Keynsham 10k.

EIGHT members of Running Forever Running took part in the Curry Mallet 10K.

The results were: 14th Rob Hudson 44.32, 18th Sallie Durman 47.42, 1st PB 32nd Peter Hall 51.16, 33rd Pete Williams 52.05, 3rd M60 38th Helen Philips 53.43, 3rd F45 40th Cherry Eggleston 54.55, 1st F55 41st El Palfreyman 55.46, 45th Mike Sharpe 57.44.

A few days later two club members ran the Ivybridge 10k. They were 280th Malcolm Hutchings 48.47, 688th Kate Mackenzie 1.13.25.

Taunton AC’s Mark Hopkinson claimed first place in the 10-mile, off-road Black Death run at Combe Sydenham, near Monksilver.

Hopkinson made the tough hills look easy, finishing in 1hr07min24sec, followed by Rich Caburn 1.16.19, Nick Chapman 1.29.25, Keith Paul who took the scenic route of an extra three miles in 1.48.31, Barry Ansell 1.51.04, Sharron Kington 1.51.30, Rachel Smart 2.11.12.

Junior member Amy Caburn was second lady in the three-mile race, showing that all the cross country she has done over the winter paid dividends in 25.12.

In the Glastonbury 10k, Taunton AC’s Luke Scott was fourth in 33.19 with Tom Bloodworth 14th in 36.15 The Curry Mallet 10k road race clashed with the Black Death, but was tackled by Phil Paddick in 39.45, Liz Hurst 56.48.

In the Yeovilton 5k series, Taunton AC competitors were Tom Bloodworth 16.52, Keith Paul first vet 17.38, Phil Paddick 18.20, Charlotte Fisher, taking off over half a minute from previous month in 21.54, Sharron Kington 23.45, Liz Taschimowitz 23.54, Felicity Lynch in her first race for the club, 29.07.
